Italy has announced that it will begin issuing work visas to Pakistanis. The country will allow more than 30,000 work visas to Pakistani nationals in the year 2020-21 under its annual schedule of work visas known as Decreto Flussi.
Pakistan’s Adviser to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Tourism Zulfi Bukhari lauded this development. He said that this was a positive step forward in the visa process.
Seasonal Work Visas
Italy has announced work visas for Pakistanis in the agricultural, construction, and hospitality sectors. The Italian Government has allowed nationals from over a few non-EU countries, including Pakistan, to avail this opportunity under the new program called ‘Decreto Flussi’ for the year 2021-22, according to an official announcement made by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 16th, 2020.
Under Decreto Flussi, the Government sets an annual quota of 82,705 workers who can be admitted to work in Italy under various categories, including those for seasonal workers in the agriculture and tourism-hotel sectors, local hires of certain nationalities in specific industries and changes of status for workers with a residence permit issued in another EU country or Italy. The quota is also reserved for self-employed people, start-up owners, entrepreneurs, chairmen, and prominent artists.
It is important to note that there are a number of exemptions for certain workers, which will be highlighted in the official decree published by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs soon.
Seasonal work permits are available to foreign citizens from non-European countries who wish to enter Italy for a period of nine months, and who have received permission to do so from their employers. These include fruit pickers and farm workers, as well as chefs, sports instructors, and other professionals in the tourism sector.
In order to be eligible for this type of visa, you must first get permission from your employer and receive a one-stop-shop contract (Cidazione del Permesso) before traveling to Italy with your job offer and entering the country. Once you have this, your employer can help you to apply for an entry visa through a local post office within eight days of arrival.
Then, you must return to your home country before the expiry date of your visa, which will be stated in the contract signed with your employer. Once you have returned to your home country, you can re-apply for a work permit at the same port of entry or a different one if your employer arranged it.
Unlike most other countries, Italian law allows you to stay for three years without any problem if you have worked for the same employer for the same job category for two consecutive years in a row. However, you must have a contract with the same employer. You must also submit a copy of your passport and proof of your monthly wages.
Business Visit Visas
Pakistani citizens can visit Italy for business-related reasons on a business visa. The visa is valid for up to five years with the possibility of an extension. It is recommended that travelers obtain an invitation letter from a company or trade organization in Pakistan before applying for a visa.
The Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Jauhar Saleem, announced a new visa option for the country’s citizens. He shared that Italy is one of the largest sources of remittances for Pakistanis in the EU and its value-added sectors have benefited from a high growth streak this year, with workers’ remittances reaching $639 million in the first nine months of the financial year.
In order to apply for a visa, applicants must submit their passports and other required documents. They must also take a recent front-facing photograph with white background, showing open eyes and a head that is clearly visible. The photograph must be taken in a photo booth available at the consulate.
Applicants can apply for their visas online via the VFS Global website, or through an external service provider. In both cases, applicants must pay a service fee of Euro 30 in cash when they arrive at the visa application center.
The Consulate General of Italy in Karachi strongly recommends that applicants apply at least three or four weeks before their planned departure. This will ensure that their applications are processed in a timely manner.
Travelers are advised to check the availability of their preferred visa type and entry dates before making an application. The application process can be lengthy, so it’s best to plan ahead.
Foreigners who are traveling to Pakistan for tourism purposes can apply for a tourist visa at the nearest Pakistani embassy. Depending on the category of visa, travelers can also apply for an e-visa.
For the purpose of obtaining a tourist visa, travelers must provide a passport that is valid for at least six months from their intended date of arrival in Pakistan. Additionally, they must have proof of sufficient funds for their stay in the country.
Alternatively, a family visit visa can be obtained by couples residing in Pakistan. This is a multiple-entry visa, with the option of an extension for a maximum of three months, condoning overstay of up to 15 days.
Digital Nomad Visas
Digital Nomad Visas are a great option for people who want to travel and work remotely. They allow you to visit a new country while working from your own home without having to apply for a residence visa or pay taxes. This allows you to explore different cultures, experience unique landscapes, and enjoy better pay while staying in a low-cost country.
The Italian government recently announced a new initiative that will allow non-EU citizens to work remotely in Italy for up to a year. This will help attract more foreign tourists and boost the local economy, according to an announcement from Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
Pakistan is also a great destination for digital nomads, thanks to its low cost of living and good internet speeds and connectivity. The country’s telecom industry has grown tremendously, and the internet is readily available. Its cellular companies provide data sims at nominal rates and with varying data packages.
Another advantage for Pakistani digital nomads is the availability of affordable health insurance. The country has a law that exempts digital nomads from mandatory state-sponsored health care, as long as they don’t work more than 40 hours per week.
In addition, there are many co-working spaces in Islamabad that are perfect for remote workers. You can choose from places like Chaye Khana, Street 1 Cafe, and Roasters.
These locations provide a wide range of food and drinks and the best part is that you can get good food while still working. They also offer rooftop dining and working areas, which is a must-have for any remote worker.
For example, the Chaye Khana rooftop dining and the working area offer a beautiful view of Margallah hill and it has a wide range of cuisines from Chinese to continental to traditional.
One of the most important things for a digital nomad is reliable wifi. Colombia is one of the world’s top countries for wireless connectivity, and there are several coworking spaces in major cities such as Bogota and Quito.
Indonesia, meanwhile, has a new digital nomad visa that will allow remote workers to stay in the country for up to six months without paying taxes. The goal of this visa is to attract more tourist traffic to the country and encourage the development of start-ups.
Last year, Italy issued visas to more than 15,000 Pakistanis and it anticipates a rise in visa applications this year. In a media talk, the Italian ambassador Andreas Ferraris said that Italy hosts the largest Pakistani community in the EU and has sent over $142 million in remittances to the country in the past year.
Tourism is a huge part of the economy of Pakistan and people are travelling there for everything from hiking to seeing historical sites. There are many beautiful tourist spots in Pakistan and the natural landscapes are breathtaking. However, travellers should be aware that Pakistan is a dangerous destination and there are some areas where tourists are encouraged not to travel.
In the event that you are planning on visiting Pakistan, it is important to understand all of the visa requirements before applying for your trip. This will ensure that you don’t have any problems with your visa and can avoid any unnecessary delays or rejections at the airport.
Visitor visas can be used for a variety of purposes, including holidays, business, or family visits. These visas are digitally linked to your passport and are valid for the duration of the visa. You can also apply for an eVisa if you are eligible and don’t have any criminal convictions.
The eVisa is an application process that takes 48-72 hours. You can apply online and if the outcome is positive, you can then head to the FIA counter where you will be issued a Visa on Arrival (VOA).
